Georgia Watch supports the passage of legislation that would protect patients from being held financially responsible for unanticipated contract changes by their insurer after they have selected their plans.
Current Georgia Legislation: On February 3, Senator Dean Burke (R – Bainbridge) introduced Senate Bill 352 to require insurers to cover services as “in-network” for the remainder of a plan year even if the contract between a provider and insurer is broken. Receiving “in-network” services is a key component of healthcare affordability.
The bill passed out of the Senate on February 25, 2020, and is now in the House for consideration. We encourage you to call your state Representative and urge their support of SB 352.
